Monoprinting at Blythewood High School

Students learning Monotype printmaking at Blythewood High.

During two sessions, the Advanced 2D class went out to the front of the school to sketch the school's pond. Afterwards, students learned Additive and Subtrative Process for creating Monotype prints of the sketches.

Day 1--- students learned how to use etching ink to paint (additive) onto a plexiglass plate to create the image. After completing the monotype, students blotted Rives paper and pulled the print through the printing press.

Day 2--- students used a brayer to completely cover the plate with black ink. Students used various tools to wipe out (subtractive) the negative spaces in the image.
